Ancestral

Mama Teresa created a cacao factory in San Juan de la Laguna, on the shores of lake Atitlan, using the knowledge passed through the generations, since the time of the Mayans. Teresa was part of the circle of village elders and allowed to hold Cacao Ceremonies.

During her ceremonies, while drinking the sacred drink made just with cacao and water, she was able to connect to the Spirit of Cacao using Mayan ancient traditions, praying in her indigenous language, the Tzutu’il, and evoking the ancient Naguals divinities.

Sacred Cacao

Cocoa is a sacred plant for the Mayan people, it is called “The Drink of the Gods” by them, this is also the meaning of the scientific name given to the cocoa plant Theobroma Cacao (Theo – God, broma – drink). It has been used for millennia by the indigenous peoples of Central America as an essential element in rituals. The Cocoa Spirit was considered one of the most important deities in the Mayan cosmovision.

Why a ceremony

Traditionally, to give the Spirit of Cocoa the opportunity to enter the person who takes it, it is preferred to do a specific ceremony. The Cocoa Spirit is very gentle, unlike other sacred plants it is not intrusive. The one who takes it must allow the Spirit of Cocoa to enter, in this way the physiological and spiritual action becomes complete. You can also choose to not let it enter, in this case nothing happens, the Spirit of Cocoa respects your will.

Ceremonial cacao

The cocoa of ceremonies is very different from the cocoa found in our shops. It is obtained from the simple cold grinding of cocoa beans coming from indigenous plants of Guatemala, the beans are previously lightly roasted and peeled, all by hands while praying and singing. In this way, cocoa contains all the elements that make up the fruit in its entirety, including cocoa butter, which instead is immediately separated in industrial production.

Ana and Sebastian

When Mama Teresa passed away in 2022, all her sacred and ancient Mayan knowledge about the plant and the Spirit of cacao was enterely passed to her daughter Ana and her son Sebastian. She told them to travel around the world to bring the medicine of Cacao to as many people as possible. And that’s what Ana and Sebastian are doing now, they decided to travel the world, following the wish of their mum. Their cocoa ceremony leads to a very deep experience of healing, especially towards the awareness that everyone’s life is soaked in pure love, from the moment of conception until the instant of the present breath. Love, even in the Mayan tradition, is the engine of all life, is the source of the well -being, harmony and balance of the whole cosmos.

It should be noted that the spirit of cocoa activates the emotions and energies of the heart, but never replaces the person. For this reason it is an absolutely non -intrusive method, but respectful of the personality of those who assume it.
